Educators
To apply for educator specialized certifications, candidates must:
- Hold at least a bachelor's degree in education or a related field (higher degrees for senior certifications)
- Be practicing educators in schools, colleges, or universities
- Complete the relevant CIET modules for the certification
- Demonstrate applied professional experience:
- CPE / CCIS / CAES: 1–3 years teaching experience
- CPML-E / CERS / CIES / CDLS-E: 3–5 years
- CLES / CGES: 5+ years, including leadership responsibilities
- Complete 30 CPD hours per year relevant to the certification
- Agree to adhere to the CIET Code of Conduct and professional ethics
Trainers
To apply for trainer specialized certifications, candidates must:
- Hold at least a bachelor's degree or professional qualification relevant to training or adult learning
- Be practicing trainers, L&D professionals, or corporate facilitators
- Complete the relevant CIET modules for the certification
- Demonstrate applied professional experience:
- CPT / CWLS / CTPE: 1–3 years training experience
- CPML-T / CLDS / CDTS / CCBTS: 3–5 years, including mentoring or project leadership
- CLPC / COLS / CGTS: 5+ years, including strategic or global training leadership
- Complete 30 CPD hours per year relevant to the certification
- Agree to adhere to the CIET Code of Conduct and professional ethics
Assessment Methods
All CIET specialized certifications are awarded based on rigorous professional assessment, ensuring candidates demonstrate both theoretical knowledge and applied expertise.
1 Written Examinations
Knowledge of module content, principles, and professional standards. Typically 50–60 multiple-choice or short-answer questions, plus 1–2 scenario-based essay questions. Duration: 2–3 hours depending on certification level.
2 Portfolio Submission
Evidence of applied professional practice aligned with the certification. Includes lesson plans, training materials, curriculum examples, project reports, or mentoring records. Must include reflective practice and demonstrate impact.
3 Capstone / Applied Project
For advanced certifications, designed to demonstrate practical mastery. Can include curriculum redesign, workplace learning programs, digital learning solutions, research projects, or policy implementation. Submission includes written report and presentation.
4 Oral Presentation / Defense
For senior/executive-level certifications. Candidates present their capstone or portfolio evidence to an evaluation panel, demonstrating professional judgment, leadership, and applied expertise.

Certification Award & Re-examination
Award: Certification is awarded only when all assessments are successfully completed. Advanced certifications require both portfolio and oral defense approval.
Re-examination: Candidates who fail may re-sit exams or resubmit portfolios within 12 months. Maximum three attempts per assessment before mandatory retraining.
Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
CIET requires all certified professionals to engage in a minimum of 30 CPD hours annually, ensuring ongoing professional growth and maintaining the credibility of the certification.
