CIET Professional Qualification Pathway
The Chartered Institute of Education & Training (CIET) is dedicated to advancing professional standards in education and training through a rigorous and internationally recognized Examination Framework. This framework is designed to ensure that education and training professionals acquire, demonstrate, and maintain high levels of knowledge, practical competence, ethical practice, and leadership capacity throughout their careers.
Framework Structure
The framework comprises five progressive levels, each with five core modules, designed to progressively develop foundational knowledge, applied competencies, leadership skills, and sector-wide influence. Foundational Practitioner Level
Building Core Knowledge & Professional Ethics
Purpose
Assess core knowledge of education, instructional principles, and professional ethics. This level establishes the fundamental understanding required for professional practice in education and training.

Professional Educator Level
Developing Applied Skills & Competence
Purpose
Evaluate applied instructional skills, curriculum delivery, and professional competence. This level develops practical capabilities for effective teaching and training delivery.

CIET Diploma in Applied Education & Training – Recognizes competence in applied teaching and training delivery with professional collaboration skills.
Senior Practitioner Level
Advancing Leadership & Research Skills
Purpose
Assess advanced professional knowledge, leadership capabilities, and research competence. This level prepares professionals for senior roles requiring strategic thinking and innovation.

Executive Leadership Level

Mastery & Thought Leadership Level

Recognize expert-level contributions, visionary leadership, and global impact. This level represents the pinnacle of professional achievement in education and training.

CIET Executive Master Certificate in Education & Training – Recognizes expert-level mastery, transformational leadership, research excellence, and global professional influence.
Examination Guidelines
CIET examinations are governed by professional standards to ensure integrity, fairness, and consistency. All candidates must comply with the following guidelines:
Registration & Eligibility
- Candidates must register within published timelines
- Eligibility criteria must be fully met, including prior level completion
- CPD compliance is required for progression
- All documentation must be submitted at registration
Examination Format
- Written examinations may be closed-book, online, or in-person
- Portfolio and capstone submissions must comply with CIET formatting rules
- Presentations or oral defenses may be virtual or in-person
- Format specifications will be provided in advance
Code of Conduct
- Candidates must maintain academic integrity at all times
- Plagiarism or misconduct is strictly prohibited
- Violations may result in disqualification or reassessment
- All work must be original and properly referenced
Submission Deadlines
- Portfolios and research projects have strict deadlines
- Presentations must be scheduled within specified timeframes
- Late submissions are subject to penalties
- Prior approval required for extensions
Assessment & Appeals

Certification

Assessment Methods
CIET assessments measure knowledge, application, and professional judgment through multiple evaluation approaches:
Written Examinations
Evaluate theoretical knowledge of each module. Examinations assess understanding of core concepts, professional standards, and ability to apply knowledge to educational contexts.
Portfolio Submission
Demonstrate professional achievements, CPD activities, and project work. Portfolios provide evidence of applied practice, reflective thinking, and professional growth.
Presentations / Oral Defense
Show professional communication, leadership, and applied competence. Candidates present findings, defend methodologies, and demonstrate strategic thinking.
Capstone / Research Project
For Senior Practitioner level and above. Assess research capabilities, innovation, and leadership outcomes through substantial independent work.

Grading Notes
Grades are awarded per module, and candidates must pass all modules to complete the level.
Capstone or portfolio assessments are graded on aggregate performance across relevant modules.
Exemption Policy
CIET recognizes prior learning and professional achievement through exemptions. We value your experience and qualifications, allowing progression without unnecessary repetition.
Module Exemption
Verified prior learning, qualifications, or professional experience may exempt candidates from specific modules. Exemptions are assessed case by case by the Membership Committee.
Level Exemption
In exceptional cases, an entire level may be waived for senior professionals with extensive experience, research, or accreditation. Submission of portfolio, references, and verified credentials is required.
Validity Period
Exemptions are valid for 3 years from approval. Exempt candidates must still meet CPD and ethical standards for the level. Documentation must be current and verifiable.
